Russia Bans Import of U.S. and E.U Food, Vegetables, and Fruit

On Wednesday the Russian state news agency announced a ban on all imports of food from the United States, as well as fruit and vegetables from Europe. The bans are in response to sanctions from the United States over Russia’s support of Ukraine separatists. NATO officials warned that Russia may attempt to use a humanitarian mission as an opportunity to bring troops into Ukraine’s borders. Both sides have traded accusations since the beginning of conflict in eastern Ukraine. The hostility has grown since the downing of a Malaysian flight over rebel held territory in Ukraine.
