The Associated Press reports that IRS officials lavished in luxury while attending a $4.1 million training conference three years in a row. IRS officials enjoyed high-class hotel rooms and free food and drinks while receiving training. Top officials stayed several nights in hotel rooms that ranged from $3,500 – $1,499 a night. A total of 132 IRS officials received room upgrades at the conference, according to a report by the Treasury Department inspector general for tax administration. The report released on the same day that leaders of six targeted conservative groups testified at a congressional hearing regarding the abuse they endured from the IRS. Tuesday’s report by the inspector general suggests “the agency has problems with management issues beyond the division that handles tax-exempt applications.” In total, the IRS held 225 employee conferences from 2010-2012 costing a whopping total of $49 million.
