A new Wi-Fi system developed by the University of Washington detects movements within the home and allows you to convert them to commands and control connected devices. Some of the commands include switching off lights, changing TV channels and even turning on the dishwasher or the heat from the couch. According to the experts, our bodies distort the Wi-Fi signals we use to beam information to and from our laptops and phones. By watching those signals closely, the team can determine not only what room you’re in, but where you’re standing and how you’re moving your body. The new system is called WiSee and can even track people wandering through rooms or out of the house, turning off lights or adjusting music volume along the way.
